Are you a butt guy or a boobs guy? That’s the question that every (straight) man ever faced at least once in his life. And you know what, it might not be an easy one to answer. Sure, some men prefer breasts over boobs and vice versa. But, often, that answer serves more like a placeholder for a proper response. There’s virtually no man that’s exclusive to boobs or butt. The fact is, we love them both.

But the fact remains that these two body parts on a woman are the most pleasurable to any man. Sure, the face is also there, but you can look at a cardboard box with two holes, and you’ll see eyes and a face. Although there are plenty of articles that say men look at women’s eyes first, there are plenty of actual people who will tell you otherwise. So, the question is, who’s more numerous — breast men or butt men?

Imagine for a second that you’re an archeologist working on a site dating back to prehistoric times. Let’s also imagine you’ve stumbled upon a prehistory men’s lifestyle magazine that gives advice on how to stay fit and offers some men’s sex tips — basically, a caveman’s Men’s Health. You’d probably see a lot of boob pictures and advice on all the different ways you can play with them. But back then, sex was what sex is biologically meant to be — an activity that exists for reproduction.

However, that was only in the very early parts of our development as a species. As soon as we started developing emotional connections between one another and weren’t just tribal animals looking for survival, sexual intercourse became a source of pleasure. Perhaps the very first pleasure known to man was sucking on a pair of beautiful female breasts. There was nothing Freudian about it — they were just there, and it felt sexy to put them in one’s mouth.

While sex evolved in terms of people experimenting with each other, some things always remained the same. That is, coitus was still the insertion and subsequent thrusting of a penis into a vagina. It’s always been like that, and it always will be. Likewise, a man’s pleasure of messing with women’s breasts will always be present and never-changing. So, if a caveman leaped forward in time to eras when Playboy and Hooters were extremely popular, he would have found hundreds of magazines focused around bosoms.

Without getting too technical and taking the fun out of this article, there’s an anthropological reason men like breasts. Women’s breasts contain mammary glands that produce milk, which is basically what makes us mammals. But, we’re pretty much the only species where males give so much attention to the “milky part” of the body. There are two reasons why guys do this.

The first one goes back to those more animalistic times of ours. When a man sees firm breasts, that’s a signal to the brain that the potential partner is youthful, which is an essential factor when choosing your mate. Additionally, the larger boobs are, the more fertile the woman, and that’s why men get attracted to them quickly. It’s an evolutionary thing. Simply, when you see a pair of droopy swingers, your brain will tell you the lady is well past her best.

The second reason is a bit different. You see, breasts are erogenous zones to women. When men stimulate their nipples, they get horny. But, their bodies also produce oxytocin, which also happens during breastfeeding. Since there’s no baby involved, women attach themselves to their partners and find them more attractive. In time, men have genetically and subconsciously become aware of this, making us even more interested in the chest area.

As we’ve already said, in the second part of the 20th century, boobs dominated the fight for men’s sexual attention. But what happened once Playboy stopped being as powerful as it had been? The Internet replaced paper magazines, and porn became the number one aid in masturbation. That is where butts enter the scene covered in glory (among other things).

The explanation for why so many people are into butts is not as clear as with boobs. Some theories speculate that it’s because, back in the day, there was no eye-to-eye sex. Basically, cavemen had only one sex position — doggy style. So, seeing a woman’s butt triggers men’s genetic memories of some older times.

Others say it might have nothing to do with the anatomy at all. A lot of it is cultural. For instance, Ray B. Browne, a leader of academic studies of popular culture in the United States, claims that clothing had a say in it. As the decades went by, women started wearing more and more tight-fitting denim jeans, emphasizing the hip area. Moreover, manufacturers would put their shiny logos on the back pocket, and our eyes would reflexively look down and check out what’s going on.

As women bought more and more jeans, manufacturers made ads that featured hot models. One thing led to another, and now we find ourselves searching for butt as much as breast porn. In fact, a recent study shows that nowadays more people are into butts than boobs. Only 38.5% of men preferred tits, while 59 percent chose asses (the rest couldn’t make their mind up or chose something else).

So, there you have it. It turns out that men are into butts more. If you’re a girl guys call a “2×4,” don’t despair — do some squats instead!
